ENGLISH FOR DUDE RANCH GUESTS

This course is part of the "Learning-at-Leisure" Vacation Program Series and is intended to enhance the "dude ranch experience" of foreign guests. The curriculum focuses on ranch terminology and, more importantly, ranch culture. American films such as "Unforgiven," "Little Big Man," etc. are used to illustrate Western language style and culture. The cowboy poetry of Stan Paregien is included, as well as excerpts from the authentic radio program "Spirit of the West." Music is a universal way to communicate and the songs of Ian Tyson, Cindy Church, Wilf Carter, Nathan Tinkham, and David Wilkie are incorporated into the course. Cultural aspects of western and country humor are also an integral part of this vacation program.
